19-year-old arrested for sex with young girl | Crime

Bartow, Florida -- Bartow Police have arrested a 19-year-old man for an alleged sexual relationship with a 12-year-old girl.

Police say on Monday, July 16 they began investigating a report of sexual misconduct after they learned of the incidents from the girl's parents.

Through their investigation, detectives say the sexual encounters between the girl and Austin Schumaker were not against her will and it had happened on two different occasions.

Once her parents learned of the incidents they called police.

During an interview with Schumaker, detectives say he admitted to the relationship.

On July 17, Schumaker was arrested at his home on W. Calendar Court.

He has been charged with two counts of Lewd Battery a 2nd degree felony.
