Bartow to leave booze sales law alone | News

Bartow, Florida --Bartow city leaders have decided to leave the city's alcohol sales law just as it is and has been for years.

About two weeks ago, city leaders asked for an update from the Bartow City Attorney's Office.

They had raised questions about some of the ordinance's language when it comes to alcohol volume, retail sales on Sundays,and enforcement.

A resident had asked Bartow to lift its ban on Sunday sales of booze exceeding 14 percent alcohol content before noon.

While declining to lift the ban, city leaders said the discussion raised questions about who is responsible for determining a beverage's alcohol content - distributors, merchants or police.

They've decided to leave the ordinance as-is.
