Bartow trash collection being reduced to once per week | News

Bartow, FL -- Residents may call it a "bunch of garbage" or even think "it stinks", but starting Oct. 3, the city will only be collecting trash once a week.
Until now, Bartow trash collectors have scheduled pick-ups two times per week, but city officials have decided one day a week is enough.
Most might think it's a matter of trimming the budget, but city officials say it has more to do with recycling. So much trash is recycled, these days, they say it's just not necessary to pick-up other solid waste more than once per week.
Bartow plans to send out leaflets letting residents know about the change.
Whichever day a resident's recyclables are collected will now be their once-a-week collection day for all trash, including both solid waste and recyclables.
