Bartow, Florida -- I's time to lace-up for a great cause. This coming Saturday, April 6, the Achievement Academy will hold a Rise & Shine Walk for Kids to raise awareness and support for children with special needs.

Fishing Tourney this week to Benefit Bartow Group

Bartow, FL -- If you consider yourself a skilled angler, why not cast a line for a good cause this weekend?

On Saturday, the "Reelin-In-Relay Bass Tournament" will take place.

1st, 2nd & 3rd Place Winners will receive prizes, and there are door prizes being given as well.

The fundraising event, taking place on march 23rd, benefits Bartow's Relay for Life.

The event takes place at Camp Mack.

Saddle Creek Gun Range Closed

Bartow, Florida -- The Saddle Creek Park Gun Range will be closed all day Saturday, March 16, 2013.

The gun range is closed because it is hosting a high school Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) shooting competition. The even is open to spectators.

The gun range will resume normal operating hours on Wednesday, March 20.

Winter Haven, Florida -- Bartow seniors who want to take advantage of an opportunity to become acquainted with yoga for free can look into the Silver Sneakers YOGA Stretch in Winter Haven this Thursday at 9 a.m.

According to the website "WebMD":

"Yoga has been practiced for more than 5,000 years, and currently, close to 11 million Americans are enjoying its health benefits. Yoga can hardly be called a trend."

Mother/Son Camp Out Registration Now Open

Bartow, FL-- Polk County Parks & Recreation is hosting a Mother and Son Camp Out at Homeland Heritage Park Saturday, Dec. 1 through Sunday, Dec. 2.

The camp out is for boys ages 5 to 12 years old and is $5 per person, which includes dinner, refreshments and a continental breakfast.

Mothers and sons enjoy camping in a pioneer park setting, a scavenger hunt, games, campfire songs, ghost stories and much more.

Party in Pink Zumbathon

Bartow, Florida -- Hundreds of people showed-up to walk for a cure in downtown Bartow last weekend, as part of fund-raising efforts to find a cure for breast cancer- and the effort continues this week.

The "Party in Pink Zumbathon" takes place at the Carver Recreation Center on Saturday, Oct. 27.

Organizers say "It's time to get moving and help find cures for breast cancer. Do it for yourself, for the people you love, for the millions who need your support."

It will take place from 10:30 a.m. to noon and is open to the public.
